Start before dawn, end with sunrise. Stars, Milky Way then first light over the Salar de Uyuni. Bolivia's most unique 4WD night tour. Book now.
This is not a tour for those who want to stay comfortable.
It starts at 3:00 AM. It ends with the sun rising over the largest salt flat on Earth. In between, you'll stand under a sky so full of stars that the Milky Way casts a faint shadow — then watch that same sky transform from black to deep red, to orange, to the brilliant blue of a Bolivian morning.
Very few experiences in South America match the emotional range of this one.
The two hours between 3:30 and 5:30 AM offer the darkest possible sky — past midnight, before any pre-dawn glow. If you depart later, you lose the best stargazing window. The reward for the early start is experiencing both phenomena at their peak.
Yes. Your guide and driver know the area in complete darkness. The 4WD vehicle is equipped for nighttime conditions, and you are in a small private group throughout.
Most travelers either stay up late (Uyuni has bars and restaurants open until 2:00 AM) or set an alarm after going to sleep early. Your guide will confirm pickup details the evening before.
As one of our guides likes to say: watching the sky go from a million stars to a full Bolivian sunrise without moving from the same spot on the salt flats is unBOLIVIAbly incredible. We agree.
