The complete Bolivian Amazon: rainforest trekking and jungle camping in Madidi, then pink river dolphins, caimans and capybaras in the Pampas.
The best of the Bolivian Amazon in one trip. Spend the first days in the rainforest of Madidi National Park, with an eco-lodge, guided treks, a night camping in the jungle and a raft down the Tuichi River. Then move to the Pampas wetlands to see pink river dolphins, caimans, capybaras and monkeys from the boat. English-speaking local guide and all meals included.
Rurrenabaque → Bala Canyon → Eco-lodge
Start at 8:30 AM with a boat trip on the Beni and Tuichi rivers through the Bala Canyon, with a visit to a local community. Arrive at the eco-lodge for lunch, then an easy walk on trails designed for spotting monkeys and peccaries.
Trek to the jungle camp
After breakfast, a 4-hour trek into the jungle carrying your sleeping bag, mat and mosquito net. In the afternoon, climb to a viewpoint to watch macaws and parrots and the jungle sunset. At night, a walk to spot armadillos, snakes, monkeys and tapirs.
Tuichi River → Eco-lodge
Wake up at 5:00 AM for the sunrise and the howler monkeys. After breakfast, a raft ride of about 2 hours on the Tuichi River back to the eco-lodge. Lunch and optional activities in the afternoon.
Rurrenabaque → Santa Rosa → Pampas
Early return to Rurrenabaque and drive to Santa Rosa, spotting wildlife along the road. A short boat ride to the Pampas eco-lodge, then a boat trip on the Yacuma River to see caimans, capybaras, turtles and birds, and to look for pink river dolphins (depending on the season).
Sunrise → Yacuma River → Rurrenabaque
Early start at 5:00 AM to watch the sunrise over the pampas. After breakfast, a last boat trip on the Yacuma River; after lunch, drive back to Rurrenabaque.
By a 1-hour flight from La Paz, or by bus (about 12 to 18 hours). We can book either for you.
The jungle (Madidi) is rainforest trekking; the Pampas are wetlands where you see wildlife from a boat. This tour includes both.
The dry season (May to October) is best for wildlife. In the rainy season the program may change because of river levels.
Insect repellent, sunblock, light long-sleeved clothes, a light jacket, comfortable closed shoes, a flashlight and water.
